The first few models should be arriving the week of Aug 6th!
If you are anything like me, you spend the mountain season (Early Spring-Early Winter) riding your bike, cleaning your bike and doing repairs as needed with just enough frequency to have it ready for the next ride. This works great and usually keeps you running until the BIG FAILURE in which bearings go out or you strip a bolt off in your stem because your bolts are corroded. (Yes, Aluminum rusts particularly around your bike’s contact points i.e. Seatpost, bars, stems) Based upon your body chemistry, your sweat may be a catalyst for oxidization causing pitting, swelling and parts chemically bonding together. A winter teardown lets you know where your bike is at with failure potential, your parts get thoroughly cleaned removing the year’s accumulation of salt and you get to start spring with a fresh rebuild while your buddies are waiting two weeks for their bike that’s buried in a busy shop’s spring rush. What else are you going to do that’s bike related during the freeze/thaw season? Stop by the shop to discuss your options!
